Is marriage real?

Hey beauties,

I don't know how many may feel about this but I feel some couples get married for a few reasons: money, loneliness, because it sounds good, pressured and because some believe its the next step to "going together". I feel this is sad.
Whatever happen to religion or family values?

When I get married I want it to be because me and my man are READY to take it to the next level meaning we know each other the good and the ugly. We should be ready to become a one unit. Hopefully God will bless us with a fruitful marriage and we can raise children.

I feel in our generation many are infatuated with the idea of marriage instead of what it truly means. Its like no one takes the promise that they made to God (or whomever else you believe in) seriously. Like I cannot stretch that anymore VOWS are a promise to not only your spouse but to GOD. so when times get rough you are not suppose to turn the other cheek or run out on your spouse. We are suppose to work hard and pray. Pray to God to intervene in the marriage.

Like I always say A family that prays together stays together...

What are your thoughts?

I couldn't agree more. People are making a mockery of marriage these days. So many disrespect it and go into it for all the wrong reasons and then get divorced.

I have one friend who's getting married who I feel heart's not really in it but she wants to be married and is tired of datin. Essentially she's settling. Marriage is not just something you "settle for". I dunno. I can't settle. I want to be with someone who is my friend, lover, confidant, and all that. Who will check me when I need checking and someone who they may get on my nerves at times, in the long run, they ENHANCE my life and add to the joy I already have: inspire me to be a better person. I want somebody that takes marriage as seriously as I do and wants to marry me because they truly desire me and to share their life with me not out of obligation or b/c it's time for them to settle down.

I agree with you about our generation and marriage. I certainly believe in a loving, dedicated marriage.

I must say, I think it's a beautiful thing to get married, but one must be cognizant that marriage isn't 100% about love...it's about a parntership in many areas (i.e. financial).
